I may be the one writing these things, but man do I have a hard time taking my own advice. A few days ago I talked about tackling big dreams by soliciting help from people going in the same direction with a bit more bandwidth than you have. Last night, I had someone approach me, ask what I was up to, and offer their help. They were looking for something new, something exciting, something outside the industry they currently inhabit. And, for some reason, I was initially bothered. I’ve been having a hard time wrapping my head around this project and forcing myself to put in the work these past few days, so I really had no capacity in that second to think of how this person might be able to help. Fortunately, before managing to completely blow this person off, I remembered DT5 and figured the least I could do is try to describe my vision to this person and let fate take the reins from there. As I was explaining, the pieces, which were a bit fuzzy in my head, obtained some clarity. A neat(er) plan began forming itself, outlining how this project might actually be accomplished. That exercise alone - talking about your vision with a third party - was worth it all. Having a potential resource to share the load and endure the process was just icing on top, and freakin good cream-cheese icing at that.
