Daily Thought 28 - Appreciate the Insights of a Third Party: they might change the course of your future
Third party perspectives will change the way you think and do. We often cycle between being masters of our own destiny and mortified for the future; whilst in either scenario we are blinded and ignorant of the other. There is also a middle time of complacency, neither brilliant nor horrifying, a time of either feeling content, indifferent, or on a plateau. This is an inflection point between destiny and mortification and it sometimes takes someone else to nudge you in a particular direction. As on either extreme, in this time of “normalcy” we are also blinded by the immensity of options and can feel ironically constrained by plethora of possibilities. It’s as if our minds go into elimination mode, nixing potential futures due to the smallest of complications. Enter another being’s perspective. Their external stance allows them to untangle the ropes binding your feet from taking a step into a future. Sometimes they may even show you simple solutions to your insurmountable objections. Today, a close family member, who spells her name with a capital M, reminded me of how easy it is in today’s day to just hop on a plane if need be. There is a potential seasonal opportunity up in the northern states and she said, why don’t you just fly up every weekend? Every weekend may be a bit of a bad ratio of travel time to work time, but the concept is valid. There is a potential reasonable future where I spent a week per month, or every other week for a season, in one place and the other weeks at home. Even more than this, it was a reminder that if there is an opportunity worth taking, there are ways to make it happen. This life is meant to be lived. There are very few rules as to how you’re supposed to live it so it’s up to you and I to make decisions, ask for advice, and take a leap of faith.
P.S. that last bit is a bit ironic. Most definitely preaching to myself on this one, especially this week/month.
