Daily Thought 27 - Win or Don’t Bother

This is probably a very American thing, but enter everything with the desire to win, otherwise don’t bother trying.  The fortunate thing: “winning” can mean a lot of things.  In a race, it could be getting first overall, first in your category, or a personal best.  At your job, it could be making an exorbitant sum, making something new, or solving a problem.  In life, it could be getting to the gym, stepping out of whats comfortable, or actually asking the girl out.  These are all wins, but if you don’t wake up in the morning with the intent on pursuing even the smallest win with your best effort, why bother?  Why race and hope for last?  Why design a mediocre product?  Why would you chicken out and not just ask the girl?  If you think you have nothing to lose nor gain, you’re wrong.  You have time; time is your most valuable possession.  The catch: it is constantly dwindling and you can never check the balance.  Those funds are leaving your account every moment, whether you like it or not, and it is up to you to decide how they are allocated.  Do not invest in mediocrity, spend every cent on the very best.
