            Who:                           Owner of the solar company my parents had install their system
            Contact Method:         I found him on LinkedIn and sent him a message to connect
Exchange:                   I simply asked to connect.  Hopefully to interview him and learn about what he has done.
Benefit:                       Mr. Goldin is in the exact position I would like to be in eventually, thus learning from his experiences would be incredibly useful.
           

Market Expert Ben Zientara
            Who:                           Solar researcher at Solar Power Rocks.
            Contact Method:         I sent an email to the address listed on the website
Exchange:                   I attached a copy of my Idea Napkin and asked for feedback.  We shall see what the return expectation will be!
Benefit:                       Solar Power Works, referring to the website alone, is a wealth of information on the ideal markets for solar panels and a slew of other solar related topics.  Ben is the one who produces most of the content for the site, so he may have more insights than what he has already posted

Supplier Wholesale Solar
Who:                           A solar wholesaler (as the name implies).  They also provide a lot of information for people who want to do it themselves
Contact Method:         I sent an email to their sales department, hopefully they’ll patch me in with someone
Exchange:                   I attached a copy of my Idea Napkin and asked for feedback.  We shall see what the return expectation will be!
Benefit:                       Wholesale Solar is not only a great resource for panels, inverters, controllers, and any other solar appliances, but they also have an incredibly vast array of information and learning materials online.  I’m sure they have even more content in the form of human capital, so tapping into that would be immensely beneficial.

Reflection
This was an interesting exercise.  Definitely another one which pushed the borders of my comfort zone.  In the end, I really enjoyed it!  Daren Goldin actually responded to my connection request on LinkedIn and gave me his number.  So, I’ll be reaching out to him to hopefully meet, or at least talk about what he has done with his business.  I haven’t really done any intentional networking other than what just happens in person.  That seems to have worked quite nicely for me so far, however, I do realize being intentional will only exponentially grow and develop my network.
